Women peace maker in Côte d'Ivoire

The International Women's Day where dedicaced to the peace in Côte d'Ivoire. The theme of the 2008 edition where : peace building by women. The official ceremony took place in Gagnoa (where the President originated from). Lost of political personalities showed their support to women : Soro Kigbafori Guillaume (the Prime Minister), the President Koudou Gbagbo Laurent and his wife, Simone Ehivet Gbagbo and the representants of women organizations. Ms. Jeanne Peuheumond where followed by l'Association Ivoirienne des Femmes de Côte d'Ivoire (AIDF), The Ivorian women association, la Coalition des Femmes Leaders de Côte d'Ivoire (CEFEL-CI), the coalition of ivorian women leaders, l'Association des Femmes Juristes de Côte d'Ivoire (AFJCI), ivorian women jurists organization, l'Oragnisation des Femmes Actives de Côte d'Ivoire (OFACI), the women leading organization, ...
Women where also celebrated in all the others regions of the country. The very first celebration of this day took place in Korhogo (where the Prime Minister originated from).Women want to reconcile the North with the East by chosen differents towns. Certainly, the other celebration will unite all the Ivorians. For the time being, the 8 th March 2008 shows to all the national and International community that women can bring peace in Côte d'Ivoire. The leaders of political women organizations signed a good conduct chart. Among women who participated are : Henriette Dagri Diabaté, belonging to Rassemblement Des Republicains (RDR), the party of the long date political opponent of Koudou Laurent Gbagbo, Odette Lauougnon form Organisation des Femmes du Front Populaitre Ivoirien (OFFPI).
